Through its Green Municipal Fund (GMF), the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) provides grant funding to local municipalities to support projects that contribute to sustainable and resilient communities. To ensure that the programs that it offers remain relevant and valuable to municipalities, FCM regularly reviews and updates its existing funding offers.

In 2023, Pratus Group provided expertise to FCM as part of the renewal of its Core grant funding program. Pratus Group advised FCM on recommended changes and updates to two streams of its Core offer: Energy and Land Use. This work was focused on helping the GMF program better meet the evolving needs of communities. Specific outcomes of the renewal process led by the FCM team included the introduction of more robust energy and carbon targets for funded projects, and the establishment of a fund to support peer learning for communities to consider sustainability and resiliency factors early in the planning process for new development.
