Canada Green Building Council Burying Carbon in Concrete Project
Pratus Group supported the Canada Green Building Council with the execution of its Burying Carbon in Concrete project. This project consisted of two phases. The first phase involved the development of a Market Primer document summarizing the current state of carbon capture and utilization within the cement and concrete industry. Pratus Group conducted background research, led structured interviews with more than 20 thought leaders, and led the drafting and design of the public-facing Market Primer document. This document was published in April 2025.
The second phase of the project is focused on the development of procurement guidance for building owners and specifiers seeking to procure lower-carbon concrete made using carbon capture and utilization technologies. This phase involved a similar approach to phase one, with Pratus Group leading research, conducting interviews, and responsible for drafting and designing a public-facing procurement guide. This document will be published in early 2026.
The project was funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada, a department of the federal government. The project was also supported by an advisory panel of leading Canadian experts.
